Tommy Gann Knives from Blade 2010

When I entered the Blade show, I began at the far left and slowly worked my way around, chatting with some makers, looking at knives and taking a few photos. Nothing struck me as "must haves". At least not until I hit TG's table. I had seen a photo of this next piece but only the knife. Both knives purchased were not just knives but packages and are currently being displayed as such.

This little integral hunter is OAL 7 1/2" with a 3 1/4 52100 forged blade with checkered Ebony scales. As a package, this knife is truly an "art" knife.



The first knife I selected is actually a creation package by TG. He had a totally different knife included with the sheath but felt the knife now shown was a better match and when I say the package, it was WOW!!!!

Lets see what we have here. A Bowie/Fighter blade of 1084/15N20 - 81/2" 4 bar explosion damascus. Look particularly close at the layer making up the edge and see the flow from ricasso to tip.
OAL of 13 1/4", this knife with 30 year old stag has n/s spacers and butt set off by more damascus furniture. It is lightweight and perfectly balanced -- again a true work of art.

However, the piece de resistance is the sheath with damascus by TG and put together by his sheath maker Bob Bobbitt. As a package and not being compared to the like of the wonderful Bradford Bowies many maker create, I don't recall ever seeing a better combination of knife and sheath and I'm pleased I was able to get this from TG.



here is one that you might have seen on Tommy's table but I did not pick it up till late Sunday and at that time then TG had only one knife remaining so not sure it it was a sell out for him.

Anyway here is an extremely well done slip joint folder with Carbon Fibre scales. This is so light weight one would hardly know you are holding anything and is it fun to just sit around and play with. You betcha!!

OAL is 7" with a 3 1/8 ATS 34 blade. It is a slippy that walks and talks and is not hard on the fingers or nails to open and close. Just a great little knife.



I have multiple knives from a variety of makers but never have I obtained three great and totally different knives from one maker at one show so I'm glad TG had a great show as I sure did. I did have to redo a few of my displays to now accommodate these new acquisitions but that is part of the fun.

Thanks for posting these Murray. Each knife and sheath is outstanding in it's own way.

That trio is a pretty good example of Tommy's versatility. Very different from each other, but each a winner in its own right. I'd be happy with any one, so you must be just tickled with all three.

I have always like Tommy's work. I truely feel he is under rated for the skill level and the talent that he has. I also enjoy talking with him, he's just a ordindary guy. Doesn't have a swollen head. I looked at two of those knives at the show and really liked both of them.
