Default Michael Quesenberry - Dog Bone Bowie #1

Mike Q says, "This is my first Dogbone Bowie along with many other firsts. This knife is the first I've done with an eschuteon plate as well as a 5 piece spacer. The blade, guard, spacers, eschuteon plate and finial are all made from the same billet of tiled W pattern damascus. The frame is made from twisted W's. The coined liners are German silver. The domed pins are Sterling silver. The scales are certified pre-ban ivory. The 8 5/8" blade has a Sheffield clip and theOAL is 13 5/8".

It's very well done in every way - one of those knives that kicks off a familiar refrain in my head like, "Wow, this nice. H'mm... I wonder if it's already spoken for. H'mm... I wonder how much he wants for it etc. etc. etc."

There's lot's of good clean detail everywhere one looks. The ivory scales are primo thick and beautiful. Mike's hi-contrast damascus blade is filled with interesting visual patterns, some of which have 3D qualities. And, in getting to know this knife over several days in my studio, I found that it has a subtle elegant beauty underneath. The second image below was my attempt to reveal that. The first image is a composite totally devoted to capturing critical views and detail contributing to the powerful first impression it makes.

Once again Mike hits it out of the park. I'm really liking the high contrast damascus. Any Idea of the blade materials Buddy?
