Our forth annual CKCA Mini-Knife Show will take place on Thursday Night June 7 2012 as part of our Banquet/Annual Meeting. That's the night before the start of Blade Show. You won't want to miss this.
Announcing the Seven Knifemakers for this year's CKCA Mini-Show: John Cohea Steve Culver Stephan Fowler Jason Knight Tom Overeynder Lin Rhea Kyle Royer These member knifemakers will no doubt offer our membership a very diverse group of fine custom knives. Our paramount goals for our CKCA mini-show are: To give our CKCA membership the opportunity to purchase very special knives at attractive prices from some of the finest knifemakers in the world who they normally may not have access to. To give CKCA member knifemakers a chance to meet and present your knives to some of the top custom knife collectors in the world and perhaps to gain new longtime customers. To give the CKCA another opportunity to offer benefit to both our collector and knifemaker members and to positively promote the CKCA in the custom knife community. There will be an announcement as to the type/style knives each maker will create for our show.

I've got a really nice "W" feather pattern billet made up for my knife and it'll yield a blade 7 1/2" to 9" long. I want to make it a really nice piece with good handle materials and some embellishments (maybe some gold or silver inlay). I'm still torn between making it a strong fighter style or maybe something that screams BOWIE!
I am very honored to be a part of this mini knife show.

Thanks for chiming in, Kyle.
Nothing like 'maker participation' to add flavor to knife making. I really look forward to your presentation.

John Cohea is making an outstanding belt knife, sheath and display stand.
Actually, just about finished. Can't wait to see it.

I can't wait to see Kyle's and John's knives! They both do such great work.
I am building a classic spear-point, San Francisco bowie. It has a 6" blade and the fittings are of Argentium Sterling Silver. The blade is done, except for the final finish. The handle frame is shaped and the guard/ferrule parts are fitted to the tang. I may take some shop photos of the construction to post later.

Wow! Looks like the Mini-Show may be one of the highlights of Blade this year. With makers like these, it will be spectacular!

I too am honored to be a part of the Mini Show this year, but regret that I can't be there due to having to be on the boat at that time
![]() Now I will fill in the blanks on my knife. As Kevin said, it is a belt knife with a blade of forged random damascus that is right at 6" long. The blade has forge texture and a deep copper etch. The handle is walrus ivory with a textured copper band with rawhide wraps and features scrim on both sides by Linda Karst Stone.Capping the handle off is a butt cap of filed meteorite with a wrought iron nail head finial.OAL is 10 1/2" Thesheath will have a raised back with textured copper foil, and will be rawhide over veg-tan and will be heavily decorated The display will be a cool piece of African Mopani driftwood on a weathered barn oak board base.I won't diminish Buddy's work with one of my poor quality photos, but as a teaser here are a couple of small pics of the handle with Linda's scrim.BTW,all I have left to do is make the sheath and a little more decorating on the stand! ![]()

John,
The knife handle looks really good! Linda's scrim work is great. Can't wait to see the finished project. Here's a quick shot of my knife, on the bench. First test assembly of the rough parts. ![]() As Kyle and John said (and I neglected to say in my first post), it is an honor to be selected to make a knife for the Mini Show. I'm having a lot of fun building this knife! Hope you all like it.
