A few months back I decided to foray into stock removal art daggers. I was fortunate enough to pickup a 2009 AKI piece created by Curt Erickson and Julie Warenski-Erickson. That piece really set me off and allowed me to develop a very nice relationship with them both. Not only do they make beautiful art they are two of the finest folks I have had the pleasure of getting to know. For me the relationships built are as important as the knives themselves. Anyway as we have progressed in our friendship a new project began and this is the result. In my opinion this is Curt's finest art dagger to date.
Custom Art Dagger is a 10 ½” blade of Devon Thomas stainless steel shark tooth pattern Damascus. Total overall length is 15 ¾ “. Guard and pommel button are 416 Stainless steel. All other fittings are hot blued steel. Handle is a three piece design of golden Agate gemstone and a carved hot blued steel center piece. Sheath is full metal Germen silver with a carved hot blued steel button. The sheath button has an oval imperial topaz gemstone set in the center. The carved pommel button has a +15 point diamond set in the center. This dagger is fully engraved with areas of French Gray, 24ct gold and platinum inlayed throughout the knife.

Jon, just an amazing creation, another one that's at the top of the heap for Curt and Julie. I sure am glad you got this piece, it's a huge winner, in the finest of the "art dagger" tradition. Hard to get much better!

Absolutely beautiful functional Art.
I say that because it's more than a dagger, that's Fine ART.
I like to post both large and small images (like Kyle does) as it gives nice representation of the detail and overall.

It has been suggested that my original photo may be too large. Here is a smaller version though I think the large one offers some real fine detail.

I'm always impressed with Curt and Julie's work. Jon, no surprise that you are too. An incredible acquisition.
Kudos to Eric for making this as visual as it can be. A great studio shot for sure.

Just returning from a vacation to this magnificent dagger is a real treat. I think this is a great example of what talent can produce. I love the three piece handle and the engraving, but what sets it apart for me is, that although there is a "lot going on" (many different elements and techniques), the knife and sheath come across as "a whole". That for me is the mark of a truly great knife.
So congrats to Curt and Julie for making this excellent dagger and sheath and of course to Jon, who slowly but surely is becoming the envy of many collector for collecting such great knives in such a short timespan;).

Jon, I keep forgetting to ask - is that silver-looking beading on the sheath silver or also more platinum? I know Julie has used silver, though I doubt she would mix the two together in any of her creations, but just wondering.
