This is a 13" confederate style Dagger blade I have been working on for some time

I thought you might like to see some of what I do to test my HT

(you can see the videos of the WIP HERE (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=714478))

Here I've got the blade ground down to it's final shape with a temp hickory handle

I go through a bunch of edge testing

Manila Rope
2x4
Dried Bamboo
Leather
Cardboard
MDF
and a bunch of paper to show that it's still sharp

also you get a nifty peek at the Hamon which I am particularly impressed with so far.

I would specifically like to know from the collectors here:

I realize that edge testing is important for every knife, do you feel that there is a need to show this type of testing more often, or would it just be neat?

other than Kyle I've not seen much of anyone showing their actual edge testing practices. seems odd to me

As knifemakers we spend a LOT of time and effort coming up with better practices to improve the quality of our blades. but I don't see a whole lot of real interest from buyers over what kind of testing is done on the knives.

Hi Stephan,

Great video! Thanks for taking the time and effort to make it. I love seeing other knife makers testing their knives.

Thanks,

Kyle
