Our second annual CKCA Mini-Knife Show will take place on Thursday Night June 3 as part of our Banquet/Annual Meeting. That's the night before the start of Blade Show. You won't want to miss this. http://www.customknifecollectorsassociation.com/Banquet.html

Announcing our seven makers for this year's CKCA Mini-Show:

Bruce Bump
Pete Crowl
Tom Ferry
Don Fogg
John Horrigan
Steven Rapp
Ralph Richards

Our paramount goals for our CKCA mini-show are:

To give our CKCA membership the opportunity to purchase very special knives at attractive prices from some of the finest knifemakers in the world who they normally may not have access to.

To give CKCA member knifemakers a chance to meet and present your knives to some of the top custom knife collectors in the world and perhaps to gain new longtime customers.

To give the CKCA another opportunity to offer benefit to both our collector and knifemaker members and to positively promote the CKCA in the custom knife community.

The Process:

• All CKCA members (those present at our show and not) will be eligible to purchase knifemaker's knives.

• All details of sales/transactions will take place between the knifemaker and the buyer with the CKCA providing promotion and the venue for knife sales.

• Knifemakers, of course, retain 100% of proceeds from all sales.

• CKCA members who will not be present at our show will have until Wednesday June 2nd @ 12 noon EST to direct myself (Kevin Jones) in writing via e-mail customknifecollectorsassociation@yahoo.com (copying the particular knifemaker) to deposit a ticket into a particular maker's "draw box". By directing me to place a ticket into a maker's "draw box" the buyer is committing themselves to purchase such knife/knives.

• Since our knifemakers very graciously offer attractive pricing to our members for this annual event, any/all additional services/expenses such as shipping, insurance, custom duties, taxes for non-attending members are in addition to the sales price of the knives.

• ONLY CKCA members are eligible to participate (purchase knives) at our mini-show.

• Any CKCA member found to be purchasing mini-show knives for non-members can have their privileges to participate in future CKCA shows revoked. This rule will be strictly enforced. Any non-CKCA member can easily participate in our show by simply joining the CKCA.

• CKCA members are allowed to deposit a single ticket (1) in each box for knives that they want to acquire for themselves. Please, no help from your friends in acquiring show knives.

• CKCA members can place tickets in multiple boxes and if such member wins multiple knives he/she can of course keep all knives or at that time choose not to take a knife and we will go back and re-draw a second winner for the knife they turned down. If by chance there is not a second ticket in the particular box then the knife will be a "no sale".

The above processes/rules are intended to promote the most fairness for all CKCA members.

First, I would like to thank Chuck Ward as he has provided these beautiful photos at no charge to the CKCA or our Knifemakers.

And second, a thanks to the knifemakers as we haven't seen a knife over a thousand dollars as of yet. Considering the time and effort that went into the creation of these beautiful knives it's obviously that each knifemaker has tried very hard to hold their prices down for us.

Again, a BIG THANKS guys.

I agree with you 100%. Chuck, as usual, has taken great photos of these knives.

All of the knives are spectacular. The makers have really done a great job.

I am looking forward to seeing the last three knives and all of the knives in person.

I think that no CKCA memberwill regret attending the Mini Show.

Hans, thank you for bringing the topic up as the knifemakers are familiar with our process for offering the knives however we have not addressed this information with the general membership as of yet this year.

• CKCA members can place tickets in multiple boxes and if such member wins multiple knives he/she can of course keep all knives or at that time choose not to take a knife and we will go back and re-draw a second winner for the knife they turned down. Kevin,
I have a question regarding the right to buy process. It was stated the buyer is committing to purchase a knife if they are selected, and they may put their name ONCE in each maker's draw box. If said buyer's name is drawn more than once, would they then be committed to purchase each knife for which their name is drawn, or may they select just one?

Thanks,
Peter

ding!ding!ding!, Peter you win!!! ;) :D
I knew there was something that I had not addressed, and that was it.

First, let me address another issue you hit on above. Only non-attending members are committed to purchase a knife which they have put in a box for. This is in fairness to our knifemakers. The good thing about this show for our knifemakers is they are not at risk if their knife doesn't sell to a member at our mini-show as they will just put it on their Blade Show table.

I feel it would be un-fair to our knifemaker members if a non-attending member decided to cancel a knife sale after the Blade Show. For then the knifemaker would have lost both opportunities to sell his knife. Now having said that, if a knifemaker were to decide to cancel the sale of a knife at the request of a non-attending member that's of course up to the knifemaker. The CKCA is just trying to do what's most fair for everyone involved.

If I were a non-attending member attempting to win the draw to purchase a specific knife, I would have an attending friend examine the knife and call me. The knives will be on a table available for inspection when the mini-show starts at 6:00pm EST and we will not start drawing for the knives until around 9:00pm EST. If a non-attending member decides he/she doesn't want to be in a box for a knife after speaking to their attending friend then attempt to contact me or have your attending friend contact me before the drawing and I will remove your ticket. Now this could be risky, as you may not be able to contact me before the drawing.

Now Peter, to answer your question, CKCA members can place tickets in multiple boxes and if such member wins multiple knives he/she can of course keep all knives or at that time choose not to take a knife and we will go back and re-draw a second winner for the knife they turned down. If by chance there is not a second ticket in the particular box then the knife will be a "no sale".

Thanks again Peter. I have added the above rule to the list in my previous post.

I agree Marcel. It's a good time to be a knife collector and a CKCA member.

And the CKCA word is catching on as we are on track to have another 12 new member month. We enrolled 6 new members in the first two weeks.

Some of our members are doing a GREAT job in spreading the word and bringing these new members in.

Don Fogg lost his sister to illness recently.
His sister was his mother's primary caretaker so Don's has been in Montana.

Don sent this progress photo of his knife weeks ago, however has more work to do on it.
Knives are of little importance, considering what's going on in Don's life right now. However he will still finish this piece and send it to Atlanta just in time.

Please keep Don and his mother in your prayers.

No details on this beauty but here's a look at it.

It's CKCA mini-show #7
