JW Denton passed away on Thursday night.

He was an authority on Loveless knives and was always willing to help and share his knowledge with other collectors.

I never had an opportunity to meet Mr Denton, however passionate and dedicated knife collectors such as him have truly helped to make collectible knives what they are today.
We often celebrate the contributions of the pioneer makers however not sure how often do so for the pioneers of collectors.

Sincere condolences to his family.

I'm very sorry to hear that as I knew JW and John . JW sold Loveless knives for 22 plus years but collected them for many more . His son John had pretty much taken over the busniess the last few years because of health issues his Dad had . JW was known as the Loveless man, the man to see when it came to anything concerning Bob's work . Most of what knowledge I have about Loveless knives came from JW . I visited him many times in Hiawassee and he was always anxious to show me pieces from his collection.Sometimes I might have as many as 15 or more knives in front of me at one time to handle and "play with", as JW put it . I'm not sure who got the bigger charge out of that, him or me . A very fine Gentleman, he will be missed - Jerry

J.W. was the best! He did so much for custom knives, of course, especially Loveless and the Loveless style. He was so very supportive of me and my work. There is a big hole in the knife world now. I hope John and the family are doing as well as can be expected. My prayers go out for them.

It's times like this, I feel I have missed a lot by not being in the knife world, but a few years. I hear of some of these guys who are legends and regret not getting to know them. My condolences. Lin
