That's too bad, as I had a good time there this past year. But I definitely understand "bottom lines" and hopefully all those pretty knives will make it to other shows instead. Thanks for the head's up Kevin.

Ray told me the news and it totally sucks because I figured this year I'd have my ---- together enough to get down for a nice getaway with my wife.
But, I think we'll be going down to Portland for the bicycle show anyway, and I hope to hook up with Ray, Nick and hopefully Dave on the way down or back. That's almost better than a show really, shaking hands with friends made on the internets and getting to hopefully see some shops and get one on one time with these friends.
It's a shame though. There are so many amazing knife makers in the Pacific Northwest.
Perhaps this will open the door for me to go forth and organize a show here in Sooke like I've talked about in the past. The Prestige Hotel has their foundations poured and they're good to go. 130 rooms. If I organize a non profit society I can get free use of their new convention center. What should I call it? Sooke Custom Knife Society?
Anyway, too bad. State of the nation I suppose.

Considering the poor economy, I'm surprised and pleased we haven't seen more knife shows cancellations.
I notice the "Spirit of Steel Show" which was canceled last year hasn't been rescheduled as of yet for this year. Their website states it will be.
Been working on our 2010 CKCA Show and Events schedule for our website on and off for about a week now and am having trouble finishing because of difficulty getting show dates. Can't help but wonder if some promoters aren't weighting their options as whether to cancel or not as if one hasn't set a date for a 2010 show yet?

Kevin, will there be a CKCA meeting Thursday evening (June 3rd)
before the BLADE Show?
All the best,

Yes, David the CKCA Show & Banquet will go on just like 2009. The date is June 3 . Doors open at 6:00 PM. It's at Maggiano's in the same room as last year. I won't set the menu until after May First. I will change the menu some. There will be Seven Knives in The mini-show. Again the date June 3 2010.

I sure hate to hear this about Blade West or any Knife Show . With many makers and collectors this is the only time they can get one on one to buy a knife, place a custom order, and get to know one another . I sincerely hope because of the economy, this will not be a trend for future shows . . . . Jerry -

Thanks Kevin, I was probably not paying enough attention
over the past month as I was closing a very complicated book
that is now, at last, with the printing house.....
