View Full Version : Handles--Shapes & Angles

As a general rule, I usually will fit a Bowie or hunter with a slightly angled handle and a fighter with a more straight handle but thought that it would be interesting to get everyone's preferences as to what angle (if any) as well as what shape(s) that you like to see on a well designed knife.

Also, what length do you think want to see. Is your primary concern to fit your hand well or do you want the cosmetics of balancing the length to fit the blade more important.

I know that I have left this subject very open & vague but have done this intentionally to get a variety of opinions as to what you prefer.

As a maker I value a collector's point of view and would appreciate any input on your likes & dislikes.

Handles are without a doubt one of the most important and most difficult parts of a knife IMO. Some makers never master the handle.

Handle to Blade proportions are very important to me but so is an ergonomically correct and comfortable handle.
