Our Forth annual CKCA Mini-Knife Show will take place on Thursday Night June 7 as part of our Banquet/Annual Meeting. That's the night before the start of Blade Show. You won't want to miss this.
http://www.customknifecollectorsassociation.com/Member_Only/2012_Banquet.html
Announcing our seven makers for this year's CKCA Mini-Show:
John Cohea
Steve Culver MS
Stephan Fowler
Jason Knight MS
Tom Overeynder
Lin Rhea MS
Kyle Royer MS
Our paramount goals for our CKCA mini-show are:
To give our CKCA membership the opportunity to purchase very special knives at attractive prices from some of the finest knifemakers in the world who they normally may not have access to.
To give CKCA member knifemakers a chance to meet and present your knives to some of the top custom knife collectors in the world and perhaps to gain new longtime customers.
To give the CKCA another opportunity to offer benefit to both our collector and knifemaker members and to positively promote the CKCA in the custom knife community.
The Process/Rules:
• All CKCA members (those present at our show and not) will be eligible to purchase knifemaker's knives.
• All details of sales/transactions will take place between the knifemaker and the buyer with the CKCA providing promotion and the venue for knife sales.
• Knifemakers, of course, retain 100% of proceeds from all sales.
• CKCA members who will not be present at our show will have until Wednesday June 6th @ 12 noon EST to direct myself (Kevin Jones) in writing via e-mail customknifecollectorsassociation@yahoo.com (copying the particular knifemaker) to deposit a ticket into a particular maker's "draw box". By directing me to place a ticket into a maker's "draw box" the buyer is committing themselves to purchase such knife/knives.
• Since our knifemakers very graciously offer attractive pricing to our members for this annual event, any/all additional services/expenses such as shipping, insurance, custom duties, taxes for non-attending members are in addition to the sales price of the knives.
• ONLY CKCA members are eligible to participate (purchase knives) at our mini-show.
• Any CKCA member found to be purchasing mini-show knives for non-members can have their privileges to participate in future CKCA shows revoked. This rule will be strictly enforced. Any non-CKCA member can easily participate in our show by simply joining the CKCA.
• CKCA members are allowed to deposit a single ticket (1) in each box for knives that they want to acquire for themselves. Please, no help from your friends in depositing tickets on your be haft thus giving advantage over other members.
• CKCA members can place tickets in multiple boxes and if such member wins multiple knives he/she can of course keep all knives or at that time choose not to take a knife and we will go back and re-draw a second winner for the knife they turned down. If by chance there is not a second ticket in the particular box then the knife will be a "no sale".
The above processes/rules are intended to promote fairness for all CKCA members.
A BIG THANKS to Buddy Thomason for the beautiful images.

#2 Kyle Royer MS - Bowie:
This Fighter has a 9” blade is forged from 1080 and 15N20 in tight W Feather Pattern Damascus. The fittings are of the same damascus as the blade. The handle is made from Sambar Stag that has been lightly polished and darkened. The pommel has been shaped to match the texture of the stag. There are two steel spacers at the front of the handle that have been blued and file-worked in a vine pattern. The damascus spacer at the front of the handle has been inlayed with some 24 K yellow gold in a floral leaf pattern on both sides of the spacer. The blade features a small sharks fin where the clip meats the spine. The guard on this knife is also a little different from the way I normally make them, the top and bottom of the quillons are kind of flat or square instead of rounded and I did this just to give a little different look in the guard. This knife is made in a take-down fashion so if the knife ever needs to be cleaned up or given maintenance it can be sent to me, taken apart and given due attention.
Offered to CKCA Members at the Mini Show for: $2950

#4 Lin Rhea MS - Heart A Fire Dagger
Blade: 7 3/4 inch Maiden's Hair
OAL: 12 1/2 inch Fittings: Damascus and 14K Gold
Handle: Pre-ban Elephant Ivory
This is my first use of Pre-ban Elephant Ivory and, I must say, these scales are very nicely matches in color and grain pattern. I really admire the buttery color with the yellow gold accents, which is another "first" for me. This is my second large dagger, the first being my Mastersmith test dagger in 09. This one is stamped MS, of course. I seem to prefer the heart shaped blades for a dagger which means the rest of the knife needs to follow in flowing rectangular or oval cross section, accommodating a lot of variety in material and embellishments. I hope you enjoy seeing it.
Offered to CKCA Members at the Mini Show for: $3900

That's beautiful Steve!
Thanks Lin. This is the first two piece wrapped frame handle that I have done. I really had fun building this knife.
I really like your dagger too! The handle shape flows perfectly with the blade and the gold elements add a nice pop of color. Great execution!
All of the knives posted so far are awesome! I'm anxious to see what Jason has to offer.
Thanks to Buddy for doing such a great job with the photo of my knife; and all of the knife photos!!
Thanks too to Kevin and all of the CKCA for allowing me to be a part of the Mini-Show. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Banquet!

These are all terrific knives. Respect to the makers. I salute you.
The shots are simple and shown on neutral grey backgrounds. I did this so each knife could speak to the viewer without distraction. It's fair and makes side by side comparisons easy.
Every detail may not be visible on every knife, but if you look carefully you will see all you need to gauge your level of interest.
I wish I could go further and share my personal reactions and observations. That would be unfair. The point is I wish I could because you would know from that how pumped up and excited I am about these knives.
Every piece has something wonderful about it - things that make you say stuff to yourself like, "How the heck did he do that" or "OK that one goes on my short list" and two-word standards like, "Holy Cow" and "Far out!"
When you see these knives for real at the banquet - you will know I have spoken the truth here.
