Hey Guys,
What did you think of the bio about Kevin in Blade ?

Haven't seen it yet - we're a bit behind on the news stands up here. I'm sure Dan did a fine job of it, though.

I think Kevin is a stuck up bigshot.
Just kidding. I think Kevin is awesome and deverves the recognition he is getting. After all hes the one motivated enough to get things done (like this whole org that were enjoying).
On another forum he was accused of having a bias to forged ABS blades. So when the article came out showing his new Loveless knife, I had to pick on him for buying it as a publicity stunt. :) I actually think the man has great taste and hes influenced my collecting habbits a bit.

I haven't read the article, but I do know that Kevin has vision, and I think it would be difficult for anyone to dispute that.

I haven't received my issue yet. Must say that I was more than a little surprised when contacted about being interviewed for the article. I enjoyed working with Dan on it.
Jon had me rolling in the floor laughing the other night when he text me that he had just seen the article.

Kevin,
I am new to this group but have been very impressed by the knowledge and friendship everyone seens to have. The article is a great introduction to those of us who do not know you. It showcases your devotion and knowledge, and is a testament to why this forum has grown so quickly. It is a very flattering and informative article about you as both an individual and collector. If I have not said this before, you have created a format that acts as a venue for old friends and new to meet each other and some fine makers. Congratulations on the recognition you deserve and thank you for all of your efforts. I am glad to be a part of this group and look forward to both the growth of the organization as well as meeting you in June.
Happy New Year, Jon Klein

Since I started this thread I guess its time for me to respond and tell something about Kevin that wasn't in the Blade article . My second week in the hospital I got a telephone call from a voice I did not know . That voice was Kevin's . I'd only been in the CKCA about 3 months and had never met the man but he called to check on my condition, how I was doing, when I would be well enough to go home, etc . I'll always remember and appreciate that call from Kevin . He's helped me with the forum and posted numerous photos for me and although I probably got on his last nerve more than once, he was always willing to help . Great article about a very knowledgeable and great guy. Thank You Kevin . . . . Jerry -

Kevin,
Though I consider myself a newbie, just by the time and effort you put into this forum certainly merits the recognition. You seem to have a unique ability to bring collectors, makers, & suppliers together. Thank you for all you have done.
Have a great holiday!!

Common guys, that's enough sucking up to Kevin for one day;) What are you after....a discount on your membership fees.:D
But seriously Kevin is a great guy with lots of heart for our community and fortunately enough spare time to make all of this happen.
I receive Blade always a bit later due to the traveling time but I'm sure it will be a great read, as was his profile in Blade some time back.

Marcel,
That is cold!!
You might be right about sucking up for a discount. I for one always need creative ways to find extra cash for knives.

Jon,
Are you suggesting to me that I try and buy that knife from Kevin? If so I have already tried that and do not think he is ever going to part with it. I do not blame him I would not either. It is a great piece of work that I am sure any of us would love to own.

You're right thought, I'm very partial to my Royer Bowie.

Jon, there's a lot of you who have put your effort and time into this forum. From Bob Starkey, in getting it up and running to you guys who visit here daily to check out what's going on, to reply to and post interesting new topics.
The CKCA in general sure wouldn't have gotten to where it has in such a short time without all of our efforts. :)

I agree Jon. Kevin's Royer knife is a keeper and don't really think Kevin should ever sell it. I mean... LOOK AT IT!! I'm real glad that it was so prominent in The Blade article.

I'm glad they used the Royer. I anxious to see what other knives are depicted in the article.

I had a comment offline about the above statement. I want to make clear that it was meant as a joke and I apologize if it came across as something else.
As for the Royer....if it was mine I wouldn't sell it either.
