The Blade Show is about 6 months out now, so that means that we are at work planning our second annual CKCA Banquet/Meeting/Mini Show.
Four makers have already signed up to create special knives for our show and the final two will be chosen right here on our forum.
Details to come.

Looking forward to it.
Will it be held at the same location as last year? Loved that lasagna.
Take care

Jon, it's a great time, great food and great knives. Hard combination to beat.
Charles, Maggiano's will host our banquet again this year. They really did a fine job last year. Larry Bailey has already started working on it.
Here's our show knives from last year's Event.
Harry and Charlie Mathews:

As previously stated four of our maker members have signed up to make knives to offer our membership at this year's CKCA mini-show.
They are:
Bruce Bump
Pete Crowl
Tom Ferry
Steven Rapp
Our final two makers will by chosen here from your nominations.
We will post our nominations here and then vote via poll to choose our final 2 makers from the top 5 nominees. We will first verify that the top 5 nominees are willing and have time in their schedules to make a show knife before going to the poll. If any maker declines, we will just go to the next maker with the next most nominations.
We ask that Makers have their knives completed by April 15 in order to allow 2weeks to photograph and 4 weeks for the CKCA to promote the knives.
In order to give as many makers as possible a chance to participate, last year's makers are not eligible. Russ Andrews; Burt Foster; Harry and Charlie Mathews; Charles Vestal; John White and Daniel Winkler.

Jon, I ask Ron Newton to make a knife for this year but he could not. He did however say he would build a knife for the 2011 show. But Don is fair game.

Hi Jon.
John Horrigan is a fine maker in deen but not currently a CKCA member.

No problem Jon.
I should have stated in my previous post that all show knives are made by CKCA members and can only be purchased by CKCA members.
I will also mention that CKCA members need not be in attendance at the banquet/show to purchase knives.
As we have many new members since last year's event, I will post our show procedures/guidelines as we get closer to Blade Show.

Never a worry, I just want to be as involved as I can be. I found the email but now it is like Blade. Too many great makers to choose from. I know I will be happy to just participate.

I just got off the phone with John Horigan and chewed his butt for not being a member of CKCA and his words were "you can tell them I will join tomorrow" which will be Christmas Eve. John is ordinarily a man of his word.
Now Jon Klein, you can nominate him for the Mini show.

Paul,
You are 110% correct, John is definitely a man of his word. If he does in fact join it would be my honor to nominate him. I will look for his membership announcement and if I do not see that in a couple of days I will be happy to also give him a call. It just so happens I am waiting for a response from him regarding one of his pieces that I just sent this morning.
Much appreciated, Jon

We currently have 6 makers with 2 nominations and one with 3 with about an hour left to nominate.
So later on tonight I will post a poll which will currently list 7 maker's names. We will cast votes and the 2 makers with the most votes after 5 days will be our last two mini-show makers. If either of these two makers decline then we will just going down the poll list selecting the maker with the next highest number of votes.

See poll thread to cast your vote for one of the seven nominees to fill the final two maker positions for our 2010 mini-show.

At Larry Bailey's suggestion, since the voting for the second spot was very close up to the end and we initially had seven knives for last year's show until one didn't show due to a late arriving flight we decided to allow the top three for a total of seven makers/knives.
Announcing our seven makers for this year's CKCA Mini-Show:
Bruce Bump
Pete Crowl
Tom Ferry
Don Fogg
John Horrigan
Steven Rapp
Ralph Richards
I would like to thank our makers and all who voted.
We will announce the type knives which the makers plan to create shortly.
